Summary:
Assist the deli manager and/or store manager in supervisory decisions that are consistent with Town Pump standards, policies, and procedures.
Assists in planning, leadership, organization, and follow-ups with controllable expenses, sales expenses, sales increases, food costs, and shortage controls.
Set the proper example for co-workers in terms of professionalism, attitude, and teamwork in the areas of customer service and store operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:

  1. Assist Deli Manager in making management decisions for the deli operation.
  2. Assist Deli Manager with development of department staff.
  3. Assist Deli Manager with new employee training and orientation.
  4. Interact with the public, providing exceptional customer service.
  5. Prepare deli items and cook heated items.
  6. Effectively prioritize, organize, delegate, and follow up on shift tasks to be accomplished.
  7. Security of all store assets.
    Control of cost inventories.
  8. Order and maintain deli merchandise.
  9. Merchandising, to include receiving, pricing, stocking, displaying, and stock rotating.
  10. Store maintenance to include basic repairs of deli equipment.
  11. Kitchen and store safety.
  12. Maintain highest quality standards in food preparation.
  13. Follow sanitation procedures.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Assist cashiers and manager as needed.
  2. Other duties as assigned by supervisors.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional experience should be in the area of supervision and food sales.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-
one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Experience with MS Word, Excel, and corporate specific software (PDI) is a plus.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • ServSafe.
    (May be waived by Deli Operations Manager)

  • Ability to adhere to all safety rules in on site Safety Manual.
  • Ability to wear proper uniform and maintain personal hygiene to meet all health standards.
  • Ability to arrive to work on time and prepared to begin shift.
  • Ability to maintain proper attitude, professionalism, and teamwork in areas of customer service and food service operations.
  • Ability to work in an open environment with frequent interruptions and customer interaction.
  • Demonstrate collaborative leadership skills and expected work ethic while developing team member s performance through proper feedback.
  • Demonstrate strong staff management skills with a commitment to collaboration and mentorship.
